Mermay 2026 – Day Two -Childhood Crush

Today’s prompt, childhood crush, had one false start. My initial thumbnails involved one of the mermaids looking at a photograph. While I liked the composition, it was completely unclear what was going on. Perhaps I’ll use it for a different prompt. Happily, the next idea came to me quickly. The only problem I had with it is that sometimes I am so trapped in the Herschel Cove setting, I find myself reluctant to have the mermaids anywhere else.

Fortunately, I usually get over it quickly, and I don’t ask why Camie is in an aquarium. After all, considering all the places for big sister, Doris finds herself, I could argue that this is a family trait.
