Everwood 2026 – Day Seven – Family

Everwood 2026 – Day Seven – Family

This one was a struggle from the start.

The problems started with the prompt itself. At first, I couldn’t think of a good way to do a family other than a family portrait. I finally thought of returning to the dwarven caravans from past years.

Unfortunately, the composition fought me all the way through. Not just with the painting itself but with my time-lapse recording, where I forgot to turn it on several times, and worse, accidentally pressed the regular video button. There are very few things more tedious than cramming 45 minutes into thirty seconds.

I finally reminded myself that this is a SKETCH challenge and cut myself off after an hour and a half.

I think it turned out better than it could have, but still the weakest of the bunch so far.

The one thing I do like about it is that it has the most world-building for the setting so far. I found myself liking this family of dwarves and wanted to know more about them. It also had me asking several questions about aspects of the culture of the forest dwarves. I had introduced the caravan network earlier, but this had me wondering how many of the dwarves lived in the caravans permanently in a nomadic existence.
