Mermay 2026 – Day Twenty-Five – Fairy Tale

The grandmother lived out in the forest, a half hour from the village. When Little Red Cap entered the forest, an orca came up to her. She did not know what a wicked animal he was, and was not afraid of him.

“Good day to you, Little Red Cap.”

“Thank you, Mr. Orca.”

I could once again complain that the day’s prompt gave me too many options. But I knew what fairy tale I wanted to do the moment I saw it, Little Red Riding Hood. The reason was that I knew an Orca would be the perfect replacement for the wolf.

The only challenge was fitting it into the panel.

Now my inner pedant keeps asking questions like, how can an orca get into the grandmother’s house or wear her clothes… but I won’t let it bother me too much.
