Everwood 2025 – Day Three – Storm
The caravan leaves the Deep Combe in the middle of a lightning storm.
I’ve watched several tutorials on how to do lightning with watercolor. Most of them involve painting latex over the paper before you start, and then erasing it after you finish, leaving the white paper unexposed. The other way involves adding the white afterwards using opaque gouache. This is something I’ve known about for a while. A tube of white gouache is something that has been on my shopping list, but I have not gotten around to getting it.
For now, the best I could do was just meticulously do negative space. I think it came out better than it could’ve.
