A Storm of Swords – Hamish

Hamish the Harper performs at the wedding. He may not be the best performer out there (Symon was right about a few things) But he has good material when he can remember it.

This scene is another example of how the show can dominate one’s memory. I had the lovely garden party set stuck in my head until I reread the chapter and found it took place in the Iron Keep. Of course, that’s just as well because the thought of the Iron Throne decked up in flowers and streamers was too good to pass up.

My only complaint is realizing I forgot the dais after the fact.

And for this poor Symon wound up in a bowl of brown, Tyrion mused. Queen Margaery was teary-eyed by the end, when the shade of brave Lord Renly flew to Highgarden to steal one last look at his true love’s face. “Renly Baratheon never repented of anything in his life,” the Imp told Sansa, “but if I’m any judge, Hamish just won himself a gilded lute.”
