In an act of desperation and blind luck, Sam becomes the first member of the Night’s Watch to kill an Other earning the title of the slayer.

His friends will still probably use it ironically

I wasn’t sure how to do this at first. I was stumped choosing the right angle again. Once again the real problem was I seem to go with close-ups by default. Once I zoomed out it became obvious. After that, the hard part was making clear that Sam does this by accident. It’s a scene that should be pure slapstick if it weren’t so terrifying. Imagine someone being attacked by Curly Howard.

And then he was stumbling forward, falling more than running, really, closing his eyes and shoving the dagger blindly out before him with both hands. He heard a crack, like the sound ice makes when it breaks beneath a man’s foot, and then a screech so shrill and sharp that he went staggering backward with his hands over his muffled ears, and fell hard on his arse.
