Inktober 2020 – Day Twenty-One – Sleep

Sleep is another prompt that made me stop to think for a bit. Because of my Halloween theme, I was tempted to go with a vampire, or perhaps a graveyard. But since there are other prompts coming up which are better suited for them and, for the sake of variety, I prefer to avoid redundancies.

I decided to finally go with the “King asleep in the mountain” motif, which I know best from a recording of a British folktale, I heard growing up, called “Where Arthur Sleeps”. I’m not sure it’s what I call Halloween instinctively, but it is appropriately gothic.

For today's Inktober drawing, a king sleeps under the mountain with his warriors.
