Mermay 2025 – Day Seventeen – Eccentric

There were too many options for today’s prompt, eccentric. I spent far too much time thinking of what obvious visual eccentricity to go with. For whatever reason, when I was brainstorming, the first thing that came to me was Monty Python’s “Society of Putting Things on Other Things” sketch. I ran with it.

For this picture, I recycled a one-off mermaid from a couple of years ago. For now, I think I shall call her Ohelia. I think I’m liking her more than I did when I made the first painting, but I’m still reluctant to bring her into the cast. As a slightly neurodivergent individual, I find having a character who can be described as “the crazy one” problematic.
