A Storm of Storms – The Door
Sam takes everyone to the door through the wall.
Because of Mr. Martin’s usually brief descriptions, this was a difficult one to do. (It wasn’t helped by the fact that I’d seen Charles Vess’s version didn’t help.) I first thought it would look like a standard door with a face but the way the entrance is its mouth I wasn’t sure it would look that way. I ended up just winged it and made it a slightly bioluminescent face on the wall.
They were white too, and blind. “Who are you?” the door asked, and the well whispered, “Who-who-who-who-who-who-who.”
