A Storm Of Swords – The Nightfort

A Storm Of Swords – The Nightfort

We’re back to Bran and Company who have finally reached the Wall… and the spooky, scary, Nightfort.

I had some trouble with this one. Mr. Martin describes the Nightfort as being surrounded by desolation. My first idea was of everybody approaching the Nightfort, walking through the desolation, which was too similar to my picture of them arriving by the tower in the Queen’s Gift. To make matters worse, other than mentioning a few random features, Mr. Martin doesn’t describe the exterior of the Nightfort at all. I couldn’t think of any way to make it distinguishable from Castle Black.

I finally went with them entering the Nightfort. Technically this makes it an illustration of the next page, but I figured since the Nightfort used to be the Night’s Watch’s main headquarters it was probably their largest castle as well. Because of that, there were probably lots of ruins in the desolation.

Admittedly this image is similar to Daenerys entering Vaes Tolorro but I’m pretty happy with it either way.

It is only another empty castle,” Meera Reed said as she gazed across the desolation of rubble, ruins, and weeds.
