A Storm of Swords – Lunch Break

The Night’s Watch continues to hurry up and wait for the upcoming attack. It’s taking so long that a lunch break occurs, courtesy of Owen the Oaf.

I think this is the first time we’ve seen Owen and I don’t think Mr. Martin describes him until later. I spent a little too much time trying to figure out the composition and wondering how Owen could open the trapdoor with his arms full of food. I’m going to assume it was already open.

Jon heard footsteps inside the tower, though, and Owen the Oaf popped up out of the trapdoor, red-faced from the climb. He had a basket of buns under one arm, a wheel of cheese under the other, a bag of onions dangling from one hand. “Hobb said to feed you, in case you’re stuck up here awhile.”
