A Storm of Swords – Old Fish

A Storm of Swords – Old Fish

Davos arrives at Maester Pylos’s tower for his reading lesson. he runs into Patchface who is waiting for his mistress to come out of her lesson. He gives Davos a strange doggerel about fish.

Maybe it’s my fanon, or it’s just because it’s Davos’s point of view, but I’m becoming continually convinced Patchface is trying to take a message to Davos personally.

At least Davos has been on the receiving end long enough to take it with weary humor.

“Up here the young fish teach the old fish,” said Davos, who never felt so ancient as when he sat down to try and read. It might have been different if aged Master Cressen had been the one teaching him, but Pylos was young enough to be his son.
