A Storm of Swords – Trial By Fire

A Storm of Swords – Trial By Fire

Beric and Sandor fight, steel against fire.
While it’s fun to do action scenes, I’m not sure about how this one turned out. Probably, it’s because of the contrast between light and dark, and because of this, we’re barely able to see Beric as he parries with his flaming sword. I also tried to show just how desperate Sandor is. He is not facing his fears. He is desperately beating back the burning monster with his sharp stick. Perhaps the unpredictability in his fear gives him that allows him to win.

On a side note, I can’t help once wondering how extensive Sandor’s phobia is. Is it just large fires he’s afraid of? After all, while I don’t remember seeing him using a torch, a lantern, or a candle previously, I do know we will see him cooking several times in future chapters.
