A Storm of Swords – The King’s Guard

Jamie reminisces about how becoming a member of the king’s guard backfired for him and Cersei. It ends up with him left alone guarding a madman.

Recently I finished a reference model of the iron throne. This is the first time I’ve used it. So far, it’s very useful. However, I still had the usual problems where unless it’s far in the background it won’t fit into a scene easily, forcing me to make the steps steeper than they actually are so the throne will fit in the scene.

For the most part, I think the only four hands who are recognizable in this picture are Connington and Rossart.

Instead of being together, Cersei and Jaime just changed places, and he found himself alone at court, guarding a mad king while four lesser men took their turns dancing on knives in his father’s ill-fitting shoes. So swiftly did the Hands rise and fall that Jaime remembered their heraldry better than their faces.
