A Storm Of Swords – Thoros

Jamie remembers Thoros of Myr drinking with Robert.

I wasn’t sure about this one. I’d already gone crazy with how many sketches I planned for this chapter. But I felt it would be a good idea to show Thoros in his prime before showing what several months in the rough had done to him when we finally meet him in an upcoming Arya chapter.

I wasn’t sure where the scene would’ve taken place. But I really couldn’t imagine a King being able to have drinking sessions with people in private. So, I put it into a banquet scene in the Iron Throne room.

Well, he had the power to match Robert Baratheon drink for drink, and there were few enough who could say that. Jaime had once heard Thoros tell the king that he became a red priest because the robes hid the winestains so well. Robert had laughed so hard he’d spit ale all over Cersei’s silken mantle. “Far be it from me to make objection,” he said, “but perhaps the Trident is not our safest course.”
