Mermay – Day Fifteen – Pet

While a prompt like pet shouldn’t have been too hard, I admit I had a rough start with it.

My original idea was to have Camie having something huge and monstrous attached to a leash doing the “he followed me home can I keep him” routine. Unfortunately, this did not fit into my horizontal format. So I just had to settle for her showing off her new pet. It’s a good thing that moray eels have a certain catlike quality if you squint.

His name’s Kelly. He’s a good boy.

One thing I need to work on is my world-building. Herschel Cove appears to be vaguely north coast, and while it could be either east or west coast, due to all the landscapes I’ve done, it’s more Downeast than anyplace else.

However, whenever we go underwater, there are just as many coral reefs as there are kelp forests. I’m trying to keep things more temperate this year, but then I have morays and pufferfish show up! I suppose I could say that Kelly’s a cold water moray, but I can only say it’s all fantasy for so long!
