Guards! Guards! The Crown

Guards! Guards! The Crown

The dragon reappears at the coronation, flames the king, and takes the crown for itself.

This scene brought up the question of scale. For the most part, I had considered the dragon about the size of an elephant. (not counting the tail) But here, if its claw is a meter long, then it must be the size of Smaug!

On a side note, I’m pretty sure this head priest of Blind Io is not Hugnon Ridcully. (He wouldn’t have let himself be pushed around by Wonse the way this one is.) But since this is the last book before the continuity kicks in it could be anybody.

The great Dragon blinked at the tiny circle of gold. Then, with extreme delicacy, it extended one meter-long claw and hook the thing out of the priest’s trembling fingers.
