The Archchancellor

The Archchancellor of Unseen University is put on the spot over what the wizards can do about the dragon.

I first imagined this picture with the city counselors looking down the table at the wizard. Unfortunately, there wasn’t any room so I did a portrait.

This Archchancellor isn’t named. He seems to be a placeholder between the one from Sourcery and Ridicully, who first appears in Moving Pictures.

The Archchancellor was old, but a lifetime of survival in the world of competitive wizardry in the Byzantine politics of unseen university meant that he could whip up a defensive argument in a split second. You didn’t remain archchancellor for long if you let *that* sort of ingenious remark whizz past your ear.
