“The wolf blood.” Arya remembered now. “I’ll be as strong as Robb. I said I would.” She took a deep breath, then lifted the broomstick in both hands and brought it down across her knee. It broke with a loud crack, and she threw the pieces aside. I am a direwolf, and done with wooden teeth.
A Clash of Kings Chapter 63 – Arya
As quickly as she gained them, Arya has the comforts of collaboration yanked away from her. She runs to the godswood for comfort. When she is there, she remembers she is not a mouse or a weasel or Nan the Cupbearer, but Arya of House Stark… a wolf.
I love how rereads reveal things that you may have missed earlier on. I was planning to rush over to the action scene, but this scene is much more important and what leads Arya to do the action scene. I’m not completely sure if Arya’s having a mystical experience or an internal flashback, but in the end, it doesn’t really matter that much.
Besides, it gives me another chance to draw Harrenhal’s heart tree.
