A Clash of Kings – Foraging

The riders escorting the carts spoke in a babble of queer tongues. Their armor glinted pale in the moonlight, and she saw a pair of striped black-and-white zorses. The Bloody Mummers. Arya withdrew a little deeper into the shadows, and watched as a huge black bear rolled by, caged in the back of a wagon.

A Clash of Kings Chapter 47- Arya

The Brave Companions come back to Harrenhal from a foraging mission with supplies, prisoners, and a bear.

Choosing how to do this scene was tricky. At first, I wanted to show the whole procession with an emphasis on some of the prisoners. But that made it look too similar to the illustration from the last Arya chapter with Tywin leaving Harrenhal. Also zooming out too much meant you couldn’t see the bear.

This was also my first chance to draw Vargo Hoat. I’m pretty happy with how he came out, other than my ongoing issue with these animal helms. Other than that, my only problem with this picture I forgot that the scene was in the middle of the night until after I finished it.
