A Clash of Kings – Fools

The height of folly was reached when a plump fool came capering out in gold-painted tin with a cloth lion’s head, and chased a dwarf around the tables, whacking him over the head with a bladder. Finally King Renly demanded to know why he was beating his brother. “Why, Your Grace, I’m the Kinslayer,” the fool said.”It’s Kingslayer, fool of a fool,” Renly said, and the hall rang with laughter.

A Clash of Kings – Chapter 19 – Catelyn

Here’s one last picture before we leave Catelyn in the Reach. After the tourney, Renly Baratheon throws a feast at Lord Lorent Caswell‘s castle. Catelyn is not impressed because it becomes increasingly clear that to Renly this is one big party. This culminates in an obviously staged exchange with Renly and two fools.

Not that it matters but I keep wondering if this fool is Butterbumps. But since all I have to go on is he’s an overweight fool in the reach performing at a party that may or may not be funded by the Tyrells.
