A Clash of Kings – Quaithe
A delegation from Qarth, consisting of Xaro Xhoan Daxos, Pyat Pree, and Quaithe , visits Dany.
I’ve complained before that Mr. Martin makes it hard to be true to text when he barely describes anybody. For example, Pyat Pree is “pale with blue lips” that’s it. I decided to use this as an excuse to take serious liberties. Instead of making him bald the way everybody else does, I gave him stylish dreadlocks. Quaithe is almost as bad all we know about her trademark mask is its red lacquered wood. It allowed far too many possibilities. I finally went with a design based on some traditional designs.
The woman in the lacquered wooden mask said in the Common Tongue of the Seven Kingdoms, “I am Quaithe of the Shadow. We come seeking dragons.”
