Mermay Day Seventeen – Crustacean
One technique I’ve been doing for quick brainstorming, especially for more abstract concepts, is to do a Google image search of a single word and see what image comes up first. It’s not a perfect technique but it frequently yields interesting suggestions. I really didn’t need it for today’s prompt, crustacean, but I was curious about what I would get.
For some reason, the first thing I think of for crustacean is a lobster, perhaps it comes from spending a lot of time in Maine. I chose crab to be contrary. I did the search anyway, to see if my opinion matched the consensus.
The first picture was a shrimp most of them being reference posters with a little bit of everything. In fact, of the first ten images, there were two crab pictures and only one lobster… Perhaps my opinions are an outlier.
