Game of Thrones – Why Tyrion Reads
I had mixed feelings about doing the ‘Tyrion reads” scene. It’s one of the two defining moments of our knowledge of Tyrion Lannister. I don’t think I’m alone having Peter Dinklage’s performance replaying through my head when I see the text.
The best thing to remember is the advantage I have over the show in this exercise is I have the advantage of scale. I can see all of the things in the background where the show will leave out anything that is not necessary.
Here, I showed all of the Night’s Watch camp as well as all of the oak trees. I took the liberty of there still being daylight, mainly because if Tyrion sitting away from the camp how would he have enough light to read.

“Why do you read so much?”
Tyrion looked up at the sound of the voice. Jon Snow was standing a few feet away, regarding him curiously. He closed the book on a finger and said, “Look at me and tell me what you see.”
