MerMay Day One – Octopus’s Garden

I decided to give the annual sketch challenge, MerMay, where you do a Mermaid picture every day for the month of May… I’m already regretting it.

At the moment I have no plan. I don’t want to do my usual thin marker approach. Most of the entries I’ve seen are colored. So I’ve decided to do mostly watercolors. I need more practice anyway.

After the last Inktober, I’m not very crazy about using other people’s prompt lists. I may use it in a pinch but for now I’m planning to use my own list. I don’t have a list yet… at the moment I’m thinking folklore and song lyrics.

Based on that my first picture is based on the Beetles’ Octopus’s Garden.
