Game of Thrones – Lord Beric

Game of Thrones – Lord Beric

I’m getting back into this project with the first appearance of Lord Beric Dondarrion!

What I like the best about this image is this is Beric here is virtually the opposite of the character he has become in Storm of Swords. Here he is at his height. He’s a great knight and after Loras Torel, the most handsome man in Westeros.

This quickly turns out to be completely overrated. He’s knocked off his horse in the first bout by a hedge knight, and things go down from there. But his entrance to King’s Landing through the Mud Gate is all about appearance and he looks great.

My only problem was I wasn’t sure if he was wearing his armor or not. All Mr. Martin says about his clothes is he’s wearing a black cloak flecked with stars. Since he’s not anywhere near combat armor would be optional. I finally decided Beric is here as a professional athlete and since his entrance is a publicity stunt, of course, he’d be dressed in his tournament gear.

Other than that, I forgot to include the guard who asks the question. Just for the fun, I threw in Hot Pie. No, he’s not in the book, but he had to have been doing something before he gets drafted into the Night’s Watch

“Here to fight in the Hand’s Tourney, my lord? a guardsman called out to him. “Here to win the Hand’s tourney!” Lord Beric shouted back. The crowd cheered.
