Chandelier Sketch – Orangutan Version
I’ve been just been beginning to break in my brand new sketchbook. To make things interesting, and to have some ideas available when your muse is on holiday, I’ve been playing with themes. This sketch is the first of a theme I’m going to call “Popular songs as performed by apes.” In this case an Orangutan.
The popular song in question is Chandelier by Sia. It’s a song I first heard a cover of from Post Modern Jukebox performed by Puddles Pity Party. It’s one of the few ones I like the original as much as Puddles’ version.
The sketch is mostly based on Godek, the Woodland Park Zoo’s ten-year-old orangutan. I’ve seen swing upside down like this many a time so I couldn’t help thinking of him whenever I hear the song. He’s far too hyper to get a good sketch of, so this one’s mostly from memory.
